This semester, IVECA International Virtual Schooling has successfully hosted dynamic teacher professional development sessions, connecting with passionate educators from Colombia, Greece, Korea, and South Africa. The session continues to serve as a collaborative platform where teachers engage in the virtual classroom and explore innovative strategies to enhance their classroom practices. Their collective enthusiasm for IVECA’s mission was evident as they actively participated in discussions and workshops designed to deepen their understanding of global education and the integration of cutting-edge technologies.
This semester’s professional development placed a strong emphasis on shaping Artificial Intelligence (AI) to benefit humanity and advance sustainable development—a topic increasingly recognized as essential in today’s rapidly evolving world. Educators discussed the importance of promoting inclusivity and cultural diversity in AI, and explored how AI can be leveraged to address pressing global challenges such as climate change, poverty, and inequality. A teacher from South Africa noted, “We have to learn to work with AI, it can’t do everything for us, it’s got to be a partnership of working together and developing things together to assist one another.” Through collaborative learning sessions, teachers gained practical insights into incorporating AI concepts into their lessons, helping students become more informed, compassionate, responsible, and innovative global citizens.
The success of this semester’s teacher professional development sessions reflects the growing recognition of IVECA’s approach to fostering global citizenship through intercultural dialogues and interdisciplinary learning. By equipping educators with the tools and knowledge to guide students in using AI ethically and effectively for positive global impact, IVECA continues to play a crucial role in building a more connected and conscientious world. The commitment and enthusiasm of participating teachers underscore the transformative impact of such programs on global education. A teacher from Colombia concluded, "I am thankful for this opportunity to learn and let my students connect with different people to improve their vision as global citizens."
